The Best Mac and Cheese in Toronto

I feel like a real Torontonian as I have now tried three of these! (plus I’ve eaten at Rebel House and Harlem but didn’t order the mac and cheese due to carb fatigue)

I just tried Czehoski this weekend and it was SO DELICIOUS, with perfectly al dente pasta and so many different cheeses (although I only ate about half of the portion due to it being huge and me having moderate sunstroke).

The Victory Café’s is also amazing. I once tried to replicate it by adding colby cheese and caramelized onions to my regular recipe, and it was pretty darn close.

I half remember the Aulde Spot’s as good, but I barely ate any as I was on a date and it was very nervous-making (I really need to stop going for food on dates, as I have no appetite when I’m nervous).

Minor criticism: I feel that they’re missing the Lakeview, who does some really delicious mac and cheese (which I once ate with a side of veg poutine, making me the least healthy vegetarian in existence).

Today my sister and I took my mom on a massive tour of Toronto - brunch at Petit Dejeuner, lots of grocery shopping at St Lawrence Market, and then exploring Allan Gardens. A five hour walk = very tired me.

And both photos on the right are examples of how I love finding little hints of my favourite blue in the city!

I like that the CN Tower is holding a box of timbits.

They’ve made all the buildings so cute!

Hey y’all, spring is here and that means that it’s time for a

TORONTO TUMBLR MEETUP!

Rayanne and I would like to invite you to join us at Sin and Redemption (136 McCaul Street) on Friday April 27th, at 8 pm. Come for the excellent beer selection, stay for the hilarious internet nerdiness. I’m really excited by the thought of meeting some of the awesome people I follow, so hopefully you can make it!

(For some reason this hasn’t shown up on the meetups page yet, but I will repost this as soon as it does!)

I think the coffee cup in the new TTC ads is much improved with some angry eyebrows.

NEW PHOTOS OF THE SPICE GIRLS TRIBUTE BAND. These girls are my best friends and they are badass. Not only do they have what is sure to be another amazing Spice Girl’s show at Lee’s Palace on March 3rd, they are also in another amazing band that is playing tonight at the Central.

Stonefox is the name of their other band where they play everything from soulful covers to folky love songs. If you have a date tonight or if you’re looking for one I would recommend heading to The Central to see these amazingly talented group of girls perform. The doors are at 9 and if you live in Toronto, hopefully I’ll see you there. Come and expect to have your heart melted by their beautiful voices.

I’m going to this! Super excited. I hope I can find my Spice World tee-shirt…. and also that it still fits after a few decades.

“Could I be the new Maynards candy?”“Sorry Headless Horseman, we’ve been through this”“Aww, I never get to do anything fun”“You get to ride a horse!”“True!”

I really miss the Headless Horseman ads on the TTC.

The best part of the Wedding Show: the endless photobooths! Holy cats!
My sister and I went in a very unserious way, and we mainly just wanted to sample some cake (which was delicious) and check out the dress sale (which was disappointing). But photo booths are apparently now a necessity at weddings? So there were so many places you could try them out and they were all so much fun!
And these are just a portion of the ones we ended up with. I think the first one might be my favourite because they didn’t warn us that they’d started the camera and I was still accessorizing when it went off without me! Katie by herself somehow looks very artsy with that background…

titularhumour:

This is a pretty video of Toronto streetcars over the course of a day.

Spadina (the pinkish vertical line at centre-right) goes all wonky at the tail end of the morning rush hour. It’s frustrating on the ground but bunched streetcars bouncing back and forth look kind of cartoonish when rendered this way.

So cool! I used to take the College streetcar everyday and it was SUCH a pain, but it looks lovely like this.

City of Craft recap:

My sister is the BEST person to go places with, because she doesn’t mind going early. And because we were on of the first 100 people at City of Craft, we got this gorgoeous tote that was stuffed with all sorts of fun crafty stuff and discounts to various Toronto things.

Purchases: woolen blanket type pencil case (to be used as a makeup case, naturally), adorable $10 cat print (I already had a frame that fit it perfectly!), postcard of the Great Lakes that says YOU’RE GREAT oh hahahaha. Purchases not pictured: the one thing I managed to buy for someone else. God I’m bad at Xmas shopping.

If you’re in Toronto, it’s running today from 11 to 5. Go! It’s got some really cute stuff.
